Dear December 2020 Graduates,

We have heard from many of you and understand there are mixed feelings and emotions surrounding Commencement plans. The clarification announcement that was sent on Friday, March 5 included additional details for the October event for all 2020 graduates, including December. However, some of you may identify more with the Class of 2020 and others more closely identify with the Class of 2021.

In response to your concerns, the Chancellor has asked that we offer our December graduates a choice in selecting which ceremony they would like to attend. We would like to hear from you specifically about your interest to attend one of these ceremonial celebrations. An email was sent to your UNC email requesting that you fill out a short survey. You should have received an email requesting that you fill out a short survey. If you did not receive an email please contact commencement@unc.edu or (919) 962-9154.

It is important to note that you will only be allowed to participate in one event. If you do not respond to this survey, you will automatically be included in the October event communications moving forward. Please complete the survey by Thursday, March 18.

A registration form was sent out to those who chose to attend the May 2021 in-person ceremonies. The winter graduates will have until March 31 to register to attend an in-person ceremony.

If you have questions, please contact commencement@unc.edu or (919) 962-9154.

Sincerely,

The Office of University Events
